The Department of Computer Science organizes a scientific workshop on the role of the university institution in combating addiction and drugs

Under the supervision of the Head of the Department of Computer Science, Prof. Dr. Alaa Kazem Farhan, a scientific workshop on the role of the university institution in combating addiction and drugs was organized today, Monday, 3/24/2025, at the hall of the late Dr. Imad Kazem, in the presence of the scientific collaborator, Assistant Professor Dr. Mustafa Jassim Hadi and the professors and students of the department. The lecture was delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Taghreed Dreib at the Faculty of Arts / Department of Psychology at Al-Mustansiriyah University. The workshop defined the concept of addiction and pointed out that the university is the incubator for the student and must pay attention to cases of addiction, if any, through its symptoms such as disturbed behavior, red eyes, aggression and loss of the ability to integrate with the community. She urged the need to hold training and awareness courses for professors to diagnose addiction cases and provide electronic lectures and invited students to visit addiction centers to know the diagnosis of the real addict. She stressed the need for families to pay attention to their children and urge them to adhere to religion and community morals and cooperate with its organizations. At the end, the scientific assistant awarded the lecturer a certificate of appreciation for her efforts to deliver the workshop.
