The Department of Computer Science defended the master’s thesis entitled Audio-Visual Age Estimation For Security Application by the master’s student (Asraa Jamil Nehmeh) Computer Science / Data Security on Wednesday, 12/24/18 at the hall of the late Dr. Imad Kazem. The thesis aims to develop a comprehensive system for automatic age estimation by taking advantage of audio features using artificial intelligence techniques and optimization algorithms.
An accurate and efficient business estimation system was developed using voice features and achieved a high accuracy of 95% thanks to the integration of deep neural networks and the Dragonfly algorithm. Within the framework of facilitating academic procedures and ensuring effective participation in postgraduate thesis discussions, the Zoom platform was opened for one of the thesis supervisors (Prof. Dr. Shaker Kazim Ali) who teaches at Dhi Qar University, Department of Computer Science, as he was unable to attend in person with the members of the discussion committee due to his presence in Romania. This procedure aims to promote effective communication between the committee members and to take into account the emergency circumstances that may prevent some from attending, while maintaining the quality of the academic discussions and their proper conduct. The discussion committee consisted of Prof. Dr. Iyad Rawdan Abbas as chairman and members Abeer Salem Jameel, Prof. Dr. Iyad Hazem Ibrahim, Dr. Aliaa Karim Abdul hassan as member and supervisor, and Dr. Shaker Kazim Ali as member and supervisor.
