Under the patronage and attendance of the Head of the Department of Computer Science, Prof. Dr. Alaa Kazem Farhan, the Department of Computer Science organized a workshop entitled (Violent Extremism and its Impact on Human Rights) on Wednesday, 11/12/2024, at the hall of the late Dr. Imad Kazem Jabbar. The workshop was lectured by the Director of the Department’s Legal Unit, Mr. Amal Abdul-Jabbar, in the presence of the Director of the Scientific Affairs and Cultural Relations Division, Dr. Anmar Ali, and the department’s professors and students.

The workshop defined extremism as a departure from moderation and moderation away from society’s standards, while violent extremism are the beliefs and actions of those who use violence to promote their most extreme ideological goals. Among its causes are social, economic, family disintegration or psychological causes, and among the factors that push for extremism are attractions such as the presence of groups that use attractive discourse and provide funding services that threaten freedom of opinion. The workshop called for combating violent extremism through a wide range of preventive measures and interventions and designing programs to prevent and combat these processes. At the conclusion of the workshop, the Head of the Department, Prof. Dr. Alaa Kazem Farhan, awarded a certificate of appreciation to the lecturer in recognition of her efforts.
