College of Computer Science organizes an awareness seminar on climate change and its impact on Iraq (causes and solutions)

Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Computer Science, Prof. Dr. Alaa Kazem Farhan, and in the presence of the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, Assistant Professor Dr. Mustafa Jassim Hadi, and in order to achieve the goals of sustainable development, the College of Computer Science organized an awareness seminar on climate change and its impact on Iraq (causes and solutions) on Wednesday 4/23/2025 in the hall of the late Dr. Imad Kazem, lecturer Dr. Said Reda Said.

The seminar defined climate change as long-term shifts in temperatures and weather patterns, and that thermal radiation is the phenomenon of global warming as a result of trapping heat between the atmosphere and the earth as a result of the accumulation of gases that prevent heat from leaving the atmosphere. This leads to the marshes facing drought, low water levels, frequent dust storms, scarcity of agricultural crops, and destabilization of national security.

The seminar developed proposed solutions to solve these issues, including issuing binding laws to criminalize tampering with trees, launching afforestation campaigns, planting green plants, launching large-scale projects to manage water resources, controlling groundwater, building wastewater treatment projects in all regions of Iraq, saving energy consumption, legislating a waste recycling law and funding sanitary landfill projects.
