Master’s thesis in the Department of Computer Science discusses the proposal of a lightweight encryption algorithm to secure multimedia transmission in clustered computing

The Department of Computer Science defended the master’s thesis entitled A Lightweight Algorithm For Securing Transmission ‘s Media In Fog Computing by the master’s student (Alaa Hussein Ali) Computer Science/Data Security on Monday, 9/12/2024, at the hall of the late Dr. Imad Kazem.

The thesis aims to design and develop a lightweight encryption algorithm that ensures the protection and security of data transmission for IoT devices in a fog computing environment. This study optimized the AES algorithm to make it lighter and more efficient to deal with the resource constraints of IOT devices, resulting in improved performance speed and reduced energy consumption. The discussion committee consisted of Prof. Dr. Yusra Hussein Ali as chairperson and Prof. Dr. Iyad Hazem Ibrahim, Prof. Dr. Dalal Naeem Hammoud and Prof. Dr. Ikhlas Khalaf Kabashi as member and supervisor.
