Computer Science Department organizes a scientific seminar on drugs and their effects on youth and ways to prevent them

Under the auspices of the Head of the Department of Computer Science, Prof. Dr. Alaa Kazem Farhan, and in the presence of the scientific assistant, Assistant Professor Dr. Mustafa Jassim, the administrative assistant, Assistant Professor Dr. Bashar Saadoun Mahdi, professors and students of the department, and within the government program to combat drugs, the Department of Computer Science organized a scientific seminar on drugs and their effects on young people and methods of prevention, which was delivered by specialist doctor Zainab Abdul-Razzaq Al-Juri on Thursday 5/12/2024 in the hall of the late Dr. Imad Kazem.

The seminar defined drugs as a group of substances that cause addiction and damage the nervous system and addiction as a strong desire to continue using narcotic substances and adversely affect the individual and society, and referred to signs indicating that a person is in a state of addiction, including aggression, isolation and absence from work, and called for the prevention of drugs by increasing awareness of their harms, treating psychological disorders, ensuring communication with parents and staying away from bad friends. In conclusion, the scientific collaborator, Assistant Professor Dr. Mustafa Jassim, awarded a certificate of appreciation to the lecturer in recognition of her efforts to deliver the seminar.
