Under the supervision and attendance of the Head of the Department of Computer Science, Prof. Dr. Alaa Kazem Farhan, and on the occasion of the golden jubilee celebration of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Technological University, the Department of Computer Science organized a lecture on cybercrime in the era of artificial intelligence on Sunday, 2025/4/13, delivered by the Director of Communications and Information Systems at the Ministry of Interior, Brigadier General Dr. Mohammed Abdul Jabbar Ali. The lecture defined cybercrime as a criminal activity that targets a computer or a computer network and attempts to use it, and falls into the hands of thieves or professionals, and the goal is to cause damage to computers and can be committed by individuals or organizations.
Types of cybercrime have been recognized in the era of artificial intelligence, including email fraud, identity fraud, cyber extortion, ransomware, and the sale of illegal goods, where crime has increased and it is difficult to reach the criminal. Artificial intelligence is a double-edged weapon, despite man’s dependence on the machine and the availability of the element of speed and time reduction, but the falsification of images using intelligence tools leads to the falsification of voices, movements, gestures, speeches and statements of leaders, and among its defects are eye blinking, speech mismatch with lip movement, rigid features, and matching images with the background. At the end, the head of the department awarded an appreciation certificate to the lecturer in appreciation of his efforts to deliver this workshop.
